Hello and welcome to the BEARY NICE THINGS website

My name is Maggie Humphrey and I am a Teddy Bear artist living in Almere, the Netherlands, together with my wonderful husband Dave. As a young girl I already liked creating things and till today I love painting landscapes and drawing portrait pictures, writing poetry and stories and taking pictures of a variety of subjects. I love animals and nature and all beautiful things that nature or man has created. 

A while ago I quit working a full-time job and all of a sudden had a lot of free time. So I started looking around for something new I could do, ended up buying a Teddy Bear kit on the internet and loved making the bear so much that I bought more fabric, made another bear and another and eventually started making my own designs and patterns. I have always been a bear collector and you can find them spread throughout our house, but after making my first Teddy Bear I was really infected wih the Bear-bug. One thing is certain, I will never ever let go of the first bear I made. She is most certainly not the best Teddy Bear I have made but I love her dearly. 

The bears I create are all handmade and a One-of-a-kind. They are made of different kinds of material, chosen with care and best suited for the particular bear I want to make. They can have suede paw and foot pads, but I also use felt or other suited material. All bears have needle sculpted details to their face, some with shading and some of them have needle sculpted paws and feet as well. My Teddy Bears range in size from 23cm/9 inches to 48cm/19 inches in height. They come with a  Certificate of Authenticity and the lyrics of the song they were named after. As music has been another lifelong passion of mine this is my way to say thank you for all the great songs that were composed and beautiful lyrics that were written. Every Teddy Bear is made with love, thought and attention to detail and craftsmanship. I am constantly trying to come up with new ideas for the bear I am going to create.
